@basenjilovers - She is very cute, please make sure that DNA testing was done for Fanconi and PRA. And if not or you are not sure, you can get the test kits at www.ofa.org. You do the test as it is a cheek swab.

Welcome! Congrats on the new adoption. Be careful though, they can get into severe fights. Giving Milka space to avoid him might help. Do you have photos? We love pictures!

I've hunted deer with my basenji in emergency situations during archery season. She has helped me find several wounded deer in the woods after dark. Basenjis are easily distracted by other trails and other deer scents so you need to make them associate the smell of deer blood with getting a raw venison treat. My basenji found a deer for me the first time I tried it with her. Most dogs need extensive training for this but she picked it up in 10 minutes. She has helped me a great deal. If there is no blood on the ground however it'd be tough depending on the wind direction, and they usually get distracted by diverging deer trails if there is no blood to follow.

Everyone meet Klassic's Trixie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We drove the 3.5 hours from Pittsburgh to pick up Trixie from Sue (Klassic Basenji's in Marion, OH). It was a very long day with 7 hours of driving to and from, but the ride home was much better than the ride there, except for the part where Trixie peed on my friend that went with me to pick her up! Trixie seems to be adjusting well so far, we are about 50/50 with going potty outside. Trying to learn her body language as to when she needs to go out! She is a stubborn thing on the leash and that will need much work as well! So happy to have her here! She loves our kitty Pinkie, and our miniature pinscher, Zombie. Zombie is more interested in stealing the puppies belonging's and claiming them for her own. Thanks for the reassurance Krunzer! no doubt there will be lots of differences between Ben and a basenji puppy.. i cant wait! i think im expecting the worst, and hoping for the best :) and my little experience with friends basenjis will help im sure. the first time i tried to handle a basenji was a disaster, he knew straight away i wasnt confident and walked ALL over me!! the second time He wasn't so lucky ;) i got the upper hand, and he showed beautifully for me. we reach an understanding then :)
