Heartland dog auction 12/15/2012

Basenji Rescue
  • I came across this site when googling to find out if any rescues will be at this auction. I plan on going and bidding on a few pugs (one mill is having a breed sellout) and I want to be sure I don't bid against any rescues. I appreciate any help you might give me in putting me in touch with rescues. (I have been to many of these auctions and have rescued and found good homes for over a hundred pugs. (Also labs, pomeranians, dachshunds, and frenchies but mostly pugs.) I just haven't been in over two years so I've fallen out of touch and I lost all email contacts when my old laptop crashed.)

  • There is a Yahoo Group that you should join and it is called Auction Dog Rescue. There are several rescues that will be going to this auction and it is important that rescues do not bid against each other as all this does is make the prices higher!

  • Thank you Jennifer. Your thread on the june auction was the one I saw when googling for rescues. I've been trying to contact rescues so that I won't be bidding against them. I'm trying to join that yahoo group. Thanks for your help.

  • Thank you Jennifer. It was your post I saw about the auction in June when I was googling to try and find rescues so that I did not bid against them. I'm trying to join yahoo and this group. Thanks again.

  • Thank you Jennifer. It was your post about the June auction that I saw when I was googling looking for rescues who might be going so that I would not bid against them. I joined yahoo and filled out the form to join the rescue group so hopefully that will work out. Thanks again for your time and help.

I am down here in SWMissouri. I usually attend these auctions, but I have an event that day. If you are RESCUE can you please contact me on bidding on these dogs?

Oh good, hopefully Bryson will have a good home, I had been talking to Eddie and nicky about a roommate but they were not receptive! Too bad about the female. I do understand that shelters do not have unlimited resources, especially for difficult or unhealthy dogs, but it is still sad. As you said, good news and sad news. You are so special for trying to save all the basenjis, posting notices, etc. Many kudos for you!

I can't get my mind around this advert but of course the background circumstances might be not quite as the advert sounds. I have to hope not as it's terrible to think that the person wants to home a 12 year old Basenji who is not even hers just because she doesn't (yet) get allong with a child.

Well I understand it wasn't a good idea to use sarcasm… Robyn has adults she is trying to place, a new litter on the way, and finding homes right now is a hot button. I should have spelled it out not depended on anyone to get it. And I would sure hate someone new here to think I SERIOUSLY think the craigslist dogs are an option over legit rescues and responsible breeders.

@yodel4me: I would love to foster but since BRAT won't let me adopt I doubt they would let me foster. I also have considered rescuing a dog every now and then on my own but I live on a retirement income so I really can't afford the extra veterinary costs. Being retired gives me more time than money. So I've decided the best I can do is volunteer at the animal shelter. Unfortunately the closest shelter I live to doesn't allow volunteers so I can only help at one that is twice the distance when I need to go into the city. I'm BRAT's Basenji mix coordinator, would you ever consider fostering a mix? You can e-mail me at: giza1@wildroseinternet.ca -Joanne
