  • Hi Admin ,
Its micle from new york and join this forum for sharing Idea, knowledge and information about dog and cat life and care.
I have also dog and cat in my form house and want to more information about animal life….

  • Welcome Sea and to your Basenji. I can't advise you on photographs as I haven't managed that my self. There are plenty of very experienced and clever photographers on the site and I'm sure you'll soon get the advice!

  • @Sea:

Now for what I need help with is that when I go to Show Off Your Dog it will not let me paste!

You have to upload your pictures, you can't do cut and paste. Another way is to put your pictures on line somewhere like Photobucket (free) and hotlink them to this site. Very easily done, and the pictures look more impressive that way. :)

I looked up the procedure for putting pictures in albums on this site, and here is what I found:

    _How do I use albums?

As a member, you can create Albums of images that are linked to your public profile. Albums can be created by visiting the User Control Panel, and clicking on the 'Pictures & Albums' link, and then clicking on 'Add Album'.

Each album can have a title ('Joe's Holiday to Nepal'), a description ('A bunch of photos from my recent adventure') and can be of three different types: Public, Private or Profile.

Public albums can be viewed by anyone
Private albums can only be viewed by site staff (moderators, administrators) and your Friends and Contacts (info)
Profile albums are viewable only by you. However, you can use the images to customize your public profile (info)

    How do I upload pictures?

Once you've created an album you can upload images to it. Simply view the album and click on 'Upload Pictures'.

You'll have the option to give each picture a caption, and to set one image as the Album cover, which will be displayed on the public profile. To delete an album or edit the title, description or album type, click on 'Edit Album'. To delete an image, or to edit a caption or change the album cover, click on 'Edit Pictures'.

All members who have access to your album images can comment on them, in a similar way to Visitor Messages (more info). You can delete any image comments from your albums, and report inappropriate messages to moderators.

When you have uploaded a picture, you can place it in your posts by using the BB code text that is displayed below the image when you view it at full size._

  • Anyway welcome.
If you have a basenji in your life. It's going to be interesting

  • Thank you for the help guys! I will try to get the pictures on photobucket.

    Sincerely, Sea

@DebraDownSouth said in Hello! New Member: If your dog is getting too thin, give more in maybe 10 to 15 percent increases. Getting fat? Cut back 10 to 15 percent til you hit ideal, then add a little to maintain. " The eye of the master maketh the horse" applies to dogs just as well. With practice, you notice quickly if your animal is gaining or losing, and what his/her ideal weight looks like.....

@Patty: I love the advice Tanza - but how true! I've found that puppies which leave me fully house trained (usually by their mothers) do often regress in new homes but soon re-learn. If she doesn't pee when she's put outside - take her for a little walk. Always have a word that you use when she does 'perform' when she does go and you'll find this serves you well all her life. And they regress when they are teething… totally... some more then others...

@hamez: We got Tupper from Arubmec Basenjis in California. Another breeder from New Jersey Doris Daniels helped us find him. Well that would be Pat Cembura…ggg... I know her well... and the litter.... congrats.... I still would have him checked by a Vet to make sure he doesn't have a UTI... and then if there is not a problem... it just might be that he is marking the blanket, "if" this is really the only place he is doing this.... Puppy boys are pretty well known for "dripping".... gggg

Wondering how your two are taking to each other now. We've had Bongo for just over 3 weeks - seems like so much longer - and he and Fiji are now a real team. Wish I'd had the camera handy last night when they were sleeping on the couch with Bongo draped over Fiji. (The first week they'd share the couch but at far opposite ends.) They walk together, run together and share toys and bowls. She still puts him in his place if he messes with her crate, or crosses some other line that only the b's know and understand, but he takes it like a dog. I'm actually surprised, and thrilled of course, that they bonded so quickly. How are yours coming along?

Your baby is very cute! Let's see, a Basentzu or a Shihsenji… Shih Tzus I have known have been loves, but tend to be airheads, and Basenjis are frequently smarter than we are, so who knows what you'll get! Welcome to the Forum! Terry
