New basenji girl

Hi Benti,
welcome to the forum. If you do a search you will find lots of info re house training.
Our two were easily trained, we didn't bother with puppy pads or newspaper and just took them into the garden at regular intervals. Someone once said on this forum if the dog has an accident in the house, hit yourself over the head with a rolled newspaper and that is so true :D
Good luck with your pup, look foward to hearing about her. -
Wonderful and welcome. Who are you getting your Basenji from? Many of us are related by our Basenjis. If you search the Forums you will find lots and lots of housetraing tips. Most important, When In Doubt, Take Them Out…. and if there is an accident, it is your fault, not the puppy

Congrats on the new addition to your household! I hope you have her for a long, long time!

How exciting, you are in for a wild ride! Nothing as adorable as a basenji puppy. Take her out every couple of hours, stay with her , walk her, praise, praise & praise when she does her business (give it a name so she will figure out what you are praising). The timing is important, like instant praise!
Accidents..ignore, clean well with an odor/protein remover like Natures Miracle. As others have said, do a search for potty or house training and you will see lots of good information. Some train faster than others, don't get discouraged if your girl is not an "A+ student", she will get it eventually!
Our first puppy (we already had adults, rescues) was a smart girl but she would pee in the hallway at night. We have a dog door so they can go out at will, day or night. She was perfect during the day, but at night, the hall was as far as she got. Eventually, she made it all the way to the back door!
