    They look to be a male and a female and need to be in a home with no other animals. Could someone in the area contact the owner? I believe there is a Basenji rescue in CO.

    Peggy hadn't seen the ad but she did know the woman, apparently she did not pass Peg's home inspection about 7 years ago and subsequently got 2 pups from a BYB. The woman now feels "Basenjis should never have been domesticated". She describes her Basenjis as lazy, they will not learn, and they won't stay off the furniture. She also doesn't want any help from CBR. I don't know how some people's brains work.

    And sadly this woman owns a doggy daycare. Hopefully these pups will find a good home where they don't have to stay off the fur-niture.

    If they are free to good home, why does she not want them to go to Basenji rescue where the people know the breed? She obviously did not research the breed before buying them! I am not sure about Basenjis as lazy as my dogs will chase animals like crazy.

    I cannot remember his last name but he lived in Cripple Creek, CO. Anyone know if Phil is still breeding? I believe he had a dog related to my Arnie. It went back to Bentley Rumble Dust, Arnie's littermate. Does anyone have a dog from this breeder? I would be interested in seeing the pedigree.

    Wow.. I always find these kinds of situations SO sad. Someone does not research a breed and then winds up giving them up. Were the parent dogs Fanconi tested? I would hate to think that these two are being given up because they may now be needing the protocol. :( I just look at those two wonderful faces and it brings me near to tears. They deserve better.

    He looks like a sweetheart…you can tell he's looking at someone he is fond of. Unfortunately I have a boy of my own that loves his mommy a little too much to share. The old ones melt my heart, but he looks like a young nine. Hope he finds a very loving mom who will adore him as much as he will adore her

    I received this from Lori who is the BRAT Mix Coordinator: Yachtz is a sad and difficult case due to his age. He is 12 years old, in excellent health, up to date on vaccinations and sadly been in a Kennel for over 4 months now. His owner has fallen on very hard luck finding herself homeless after hospitalization and is devastated that her longtime companion now has no one to provide for him and keep him safe as he lives out his life. The local ASPC graciously stepped up and paid part of the kennel fees but that was a while ago and now there is again a sizeable bill of over $1000. The kennel owners understand though that they will never be able to recover these fees and have been absolutely great in this situation, they do not want to see Yacthz euthanized, they say he is still a vibrant and healthy mix. He is bigger, about 50 pounds but has the Basenji yodel and coloring. They are willing to work with any group who can get him into a home, be it foster care or a forever home. Understandably though, he needs to be out of the kennels! According to his longtime owner,…. Yachtz sounds aggressive around bicycle riders, skaters of both skate board and any type of roller skates. He is also sensitive to motorcycles. He was like this when we adopted him in 2003 and have no idea what may have happened to him in his early years. Yachtz also can be aggressive at meal or snack time if another dog is near his food. He will protect his food… He does not have a bite history but may do better living out his senior years as an only dog or with an owner experienced enough to deal with these characteristics effectively. Yachtz’s owner is still homeless and has been told once that Yachtz had already been euthanized, please help us to help his owner rest easy in this difficult time by assuring that Yachtz will have the opportunity to have a wonderful forever family to live out the rest of his natural life. If you have a warm spot in your heart and home that Yachtz might occupy for the rest of his life please contact Ray Eckart, BRAT Coordinator.     This dog is registered? Wonder who the breeder is? I know someone a few hours away who might take the B if he is OK with kids and another dog in residence.
