Where does your B sleep?

Sahara sleeps in our bed, usually next to me, and sometimes in the bends of daddy's legs. She has to touch us or she won't be satisfied, she sleeps all night, it's outside to potty before bedtime and that's it for the night. She wakes up about 9:00am and lets us know she is ready for you to get up also. We love to have her near us, she does not shed, so we are happy and of course the Queen Sahara is happy.

My husband does not let the dogs sleep in bed with us. Well, he is in the Navy and gone quite a bit so once he leaves those babies re-claim their spot on the bed. I honestly think that I have more space when my husband is home though, Zahra and Chase really take up a lot of the bed for two little dogs!
When their fur daddy is home they sleep in their kennels in our kitchen. Sometimes they sleep together but Chase has chewed through a lot of Zahra's collars so you have to remember to take her collar off! :rolleyes:

Abbey sleeps with me behind my knees. When I turn over on the other side she wakes up, climbs over, and gets right back in the same spot. When I got her at 4 months I bought a cute fluffy little doggie bed any other dog would've been happy to have and it took her about two hours to demolish it. She pulled all the stuffings out and climbed inside the thing.

Jazzy sleeps in a kennel in our "dog room" ==which is sort of a mudroom,but it has just a half-wall so it's not completely closed in, and has the sliding glass door to the back yard. Gypsy, our other dog, sleeps in the mudroom next to Jazzy's kennel on a blanket.
During the day Jazz sleeps on a blanket on the floor, in a basket, or in a child's camp chair that she claimed. Our dogs are not allowed on the furniture at all, although, sometimes I will hold Jazz on my lap.

LOL, I never thought would have dog ON bed much less in it… but both the girls sleep with me. Arwen sleeps at the bottom of the bed and Sayblee sleeps midway up. USUALLY she curls against me unless she is hot, or mad. If hot, she sleeps near. If mad, she sleeps at the bottom furthest corner from me.

That is so funny! When I turn over, Sayblee gets mad and moves. She only wants to sleep with me facing her against my thighs/stomach. Nor will she crawl over and sleep on the other side of the bed.

We don't allow dogs on the furniture at all. I love them very much. I pamper and fuss about them to a degree, but they are dogs…
I've never really "gotten" the whole dog in the bed thing, but I realize I am probably in the minority here. LOLI don't consider my dogs anything BUT dogs, but I also don't think on the furniture has anything to do with anything other than personal preferences.

Debra did you by any chance see my post a while back about Abbey getting under the covers after I had put Bengay on my knee? She got so upset with me she kept going in and out of the covers trying to avoid the smell and finally got out of the bed. I told her to either get on top of the covers or go in the living room and when I closed my eyes she smacked me in the face! It does not do to make a basenji mad or to interfere with its sleeping arrangements!

ROFLMAO, omg that is hysterical! No I didn't see it. I just basically tried to read current posts and hope to blend in. I can imagine though!

We just got Joey who is 10 1/2 months. He was use to sleeping in a crate in a dog room with 5 other dogs. He did not whine at night in his crate, but I thought it not fair being a pack animal that he had to sleep alone. All the kids (5) also wanted to have him sleep with them. We kept the bedroom door closed to minimize possible damage and to our surprise he slept thru the night, stayed on the bed and didn't budge until the one he was sleeping with got up to open the door. We are blessed!

Ellie (almost 11 year old brindle) and Taj (3 1/2 year old red and white) sleep under the covers, and Marco Polo (14[?] year old red and white rescue) sleeps wherever he wants to in the bedroom. He occasionally gets on the bed for a while but doesn't stay there very long. Ellie and Taj began sleeping under the covers a couple of years ago when my furnace went out during the winter. I lifted the covers and suggested they try it, and that's where they've slept year-round ever since. :)

Nala is under the covers as close as she can get to any human. Her preference is: Daddy, Mommy, Natalie, Logan. She grows into a Great Dane when she's under there somehow…

At about 9 each night you can find buddi in bed, patiently waiting for someone to lift the covers so he can curl up for the night. He loves sleeping in the bend of my knees or between Brian's legs with his head laying on his stomach. It gets on Brian's nerves becayuse he can't move or it will get Buddi up and moving around. The things we do for our beloved Basenji's…:p

We are making progress with Duke at home. Duke has a bed in a tent crate upstairs, but we have not put him in his crate for the last couple weeks because he has been laying and falling asleep in my son's bed during our ritual "reading before lights out". So . . . we just let him sleep with my son. No problems . . . Last night for the first time, I was exhausted with the Thanksgiving family/dinner work. By 9 pm I finally crashed - Duke followed me. I was too tired to put him in bed. I was challenged atleast 3 times at the edge of the bed. I had to physically and gently slide him over. His 4 legs were stiff out into my back. There was no room to move unless I hit the floor. How do you all do it? I mean being compromised all night by your B's in bed. Guess I'm not a sound sleeper. I believe I can trust him out of his bed/crate at night in my son's room. He has come a long way since bringing him home at 12 weeks old - he is 10 mos old now. Don't know why, but I thought I'd share this tid-bit of information with you because it is a milestone here. :)

It is funny that you say that about how we handle our B's sleeping in bed with us. Cali is such a wild sleeper and I will admit it can be challenging because she hogs up most of the bed and is constantly changing positions. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and she is laying on her back with her paws straight up in the air:D It makes me laugh to see her sleeping like that. She has the nerve to get agitated if I try and push her over because she is taking up so much of the bed. There are some nights that I make her sleep in her kennel when she gets too fiesty. She likes to play in the bed before she settles down and goes to sleep. She also trys to nudge the pillow from under my head when she wants to play instead of go to sleep. :)
