He he he… well the child is me LOL - dont worry, i get it alot :) - i have Cystic Fibrosis and when i was little i didnt eat alot (we have no urge to eat as we are usually to sick most of us end up getting fed through a peg in our stomaches but i never got that bad - but i did stunt my growth:rolleyes:) im actually turning 24 at the end of the year :) ................I think im just going to make cute little grandma one day......

haha when i saw my breeder (whom Hope and i hadnt seen since i took her home at 9 wks except for at a dog show a few weeks before i went and saw her, apart from emails) i had one of my "curious" questions answered… i didnt know if any other basenjis did it (as apart from my breeder theres really no other basenjis around in Townsville so we dont get to socialise with other B's) but Hope would walk while doing a bowel movement... i thought she might have just been weird and didnt know how to be normal (being an only dog) but apparantly its a "typical basenji thing" hahaha ...when we first took Hope home we thought she was constipated but the vet said she was fine so we figured she must have just made up this new way to poop. :) anyway just another random thing about Basenji's that just makes them unique.

  • Welcome back :)

Hope is lovely. I adore the picture of her all burrowed in blankets.

  • My bitches always poop like that but the boys stand still!

  • Although here is a cute pic of my partners niece and Hope :)
they look quiet happy together dont you think ? :D

@iris-shuman said in I would like you to meet "The 'Marvel'-ous Prince T'Challah" a/k/a Prince: Iris was born in December too Not much of a surprise when you think about it ! Basenjis in the Northern Hemisphere come in to season through September/October/November and whelp their litters November/December/January. A great many litters' arrivals cause the turkey to be put back in the oven on Christmas Day while the puppies are delivered ! Decrease the size of the photo and you will be able to show Iris to all of us. And do as Tanza suggests to Daureen - get her Fanconi tested.

Yes, Bungwa will toss any of his toys into the air and catch them but definitely will not catch anything I throw. He has no competition because the others just look and say 'Boooring'!!! Interesting about your best hunters being fetchers, Quercus. I wonder if there's a reason in it or whether it's a coincidence!?

Ono is a Hawaiian word, used to describe something that is 'the best' AND happens to be very basenji appropriate :) We hesitated naming her something that so strongly resembled 'no' but we don't use 'no' very much in our training, we say 'hey' to get their attention and then give them another cue to follow when we are redirecting their behaviour. The pups love the huge costco bed, and I love the great cedar smell :)

This probably won't help, but Deke is really short for Zindeku it means "protective charm" in swahili. Thats not his registered name. His name describes his personallity now, but not when he was a puppy. He grew into it.
