There are contacts for the Co-Chairs of the Native Stock Committee, although individual members of the committee are not listed nor their contact information. Contact information for individual BCOA members in contained in the BCOA Roster. The online access to the roster is restricted to BCOA members only; the hardcopy of the current year membership is mailed directly to members.

    My Response
Katy notes on the thread that have been shut down that there are contacts for BCOA to ask questions but the committee members are not. Too bad that the request of much of the membership that all committee members, not just the Chairs of those committees be listed for contact by people that would wish to have contact and not with the chairs.

I had offer my assistance to collect that list for listing on the on the BCOA site, but seems that it has been stalled by some of the members of the current Board of Directors.

One might ask, well you have the Chairs… and my response would be... maybe they are not confortable contacting the chairs. Members of the committee should be known and able to be contacted by all.

And one further note.... I find it really in poor taste that people have had the thread that Therese started shut down... it is important to the breed and people should be able to discuss at length.

I do understand this is a private owned list and they can do what they want, but it is really not a good thing... IMO on this subject.

Totally agree. I read the thread that Therese started out of general interest. I don't breed basenjis and have only owned my boy Kipawa for just over 11 months, but I do understand the need to keep the basenji breed one of excellent health, temperament and conformation, regardless of where the stock is coming from.

Being Canadian, I have always admired the strength to which my friends to the south embrace 'freedom of speech'. Saying that, I believe I have seen much more volatile threads on the forum than the one Therese started, and I am puzzled as to why the thread could not remain on the forum.

  • Its a shame its shut down. Some folks just don't want the info out there.
