Lela has always howled like a little wolf, but her full blown yodel is pretty recent ( she is 2,5 y. now). Usually when she feels left alone or doesn't see us.
Binti (3,5 y.) howls a bit too, but less than Lela - she screams much more (at cats). She also has a deep humming sound, not unlike a small outboard engine that is not quite running properly. We hear that a lot when preparing her meals.
We hear from other owners that every individual has a different repertoire.
Ariel Yodels

My BIL got Ariel going yesterday and she was chasing him around the house yodeling! My sister caught a little snippet on video. You can see it on my FB page linked below.
I extracted the audio and made a ringtone for my iphone!:D

How cool it is when you hear your first yodel/baroo! I can see it - your phone rings in a grocery store and someone comes up to you and says "sorry, we don't allow dogs in the store".
-
Cody only baroos when he can't see me or his siblings. I wish he would baroo when he is happy, but alas, he won't!

Great video - I always love to hear yodels.

I played the video at my son's baseball game…it unnerved the poor pitcher:p

I am so jealous! Shaye is 2 1/2 and all she ever does is whine and make muttering grunting noises when she's excited! Once in a great while she'll try to bark, not very successfully, because her companion, Gemma is a mix, who barks a lot, also yodels, talks, barroos, whines, and makes lots of other different noises. Why Shaye won't pick up on those very entertaining noises is a mystery!

I'm very happy that Ariel is a talker. My first was pretty quiet. Her son had a nice loud baroooo, but he used it sparingly. Ariel seems to talk to us on an almost daily basis!:D Her breeder says Dad is quite the talker, mom is practically mute and the pups are split right down the middle.
