• The vet can draw the blood, but the test must be done at U of Mo. You have to enroll the dog in the Canine Phenome Project and send the paperwork with the blood to Missouri. I second Pat; go to the Basenji Health Endowment site and you can get all the details as well as a link to the Canine Phenome Project.

BTW, there are Basenjis in Spring Valley, Lakeside, Blossom Valley (El Cajon address), and Penasquitos, just as a start!

  • @LiveWWSD:

Welcome to the pack. What a cute boy you have there. Can't wait to see more pics 😃

    Thanks 😃

I like this one too. :o Milo was sniffing the slurpie. on daddy's lap and it looks like he's drinking from it. 😃

  • OMG…That is SOOO CUTE I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that one. 😃

  • @Nathalie:

On Milos next visit to the vet I will ask the doctor if they can run that test. Thank you for the web site.

Your Vet can NOT run the test, they can only draw the blood, but it must be sent to U of Mo.. and you have to register your dog on the CPP site.. (which is free)

Really. Can I tell them to send it to U of Mo..?

You have to register your pup on the CPP site, then you can download the form to use for your Vet to sent the blood sample to U of Mo. You can't sent it without the form.

Please go to www.basenjihealth.org, there is a link to the CPP site and also questions/answers regarding the Fanconi Test, here is the CPP site link
    http://www.caninephenome.org/

Also still on the Basenjihealth site it still says that the Fanconi test has been suspended for a time, but that just has not been updated. It was re-started as of March 15th.

  • Most vet offices will draw the blood for you but will not ship it. You will need to make the arrangements to have the blood shipped to U of Mo. The instructions for how to do so are on the submission form that you print once you have enrolled your dog.
