He looks so cozy…I would be in a chair inside too if it was 12 degrees outside....
12 degrees out?!! Makes me shiver reading it. It's been a sunny 67 and dry here in N CA. Sonny has that look that says "can't wait for spring/summer to get out to the farm".
Dan I'd give anything just for 45…that would seem pleasant..It was COLD this morning but the sun was out and it got up to about 25 so we were able to bundle up and go out to the farm with friends for about a 1/2 hr of play time. as long as there's no wind chill he still enjoys a little romp of fun 
and on the way home he just warms himself up by sitting on top of his best friend! :p
Nothing like having a best friend who is also a heated seat! I have a friend that lives in Michigan and today she said it was 7 degrees out.
Kipawa is a true Pacific Northwest Basenji. We were out today during a light rain and 45 Farenheit. I'd be curious to know if basenjis born in cooler areas adapt more easily inclement weather than those born in warmer areas - hope that makes sense.

Buddy was born in So CA which is a warm climate but he prefers and likes the cool/cold weather. The hot days get to him more than the other Basenjis I've had. He like my first Basenj has that thick fur too. My last 2 Basenjis had the very thin coats so they did not like the cold.
Sonny definitely enjoys the spring & fall the most for being outside….he is miserable in the summer heat. he does not seek out the warmth of the sun like most B's..we laugh that during the summer his favorite spot in my parents backyard is under the bushes laying in a hole he digs in the dirt....he adapts to the colder days much better then those hot ones!

That's what Buddy does too. Digs a hole in the dirt. On walks he has to lay on people's lawns to cool down even though I bring cold water for him to drink.
Well, Pippin was born in Sweden, in november..he had never seen the ground as they have had snow and very cold there since the day he was born….that being said....he gets cold fast...shivers in our 40 degree winter...kind of interesting to me...I have no clue how Tx summers will be handled...time will tell.
Otis loved the sun, heat and humidity..he would lay out, in the summer, on the concrete patio, and never even pant or hang his tongue out...in 90+ degree heat....but he also hated being cold...and he really disliked wearing a coat, go figure...
heh. we dont get cold here. summer = 25 to 35 degrees and winter = 9 to 30 degrees (with maybe one night out of the whole season being 9 degrees. mainly about 15 degrees at night and 25-30 during the day heehee. still too hot for cute little woolly coats) PLUS humidity as we live on the coast (thats the sucker that makes it FEEL hot, as in you stand outside and not doing anything and you be drenched in sweat). lol
Here it was around -15 degrees Celcius with a windchill of -25 today. As far as Jigsaw and Indy are concerned that is purely ridiculous! Even with fleece sweaters on, the snow is so cold on their feet that it takes 2 trips to get both peeing and pooping done - must come in inbetween to let the feet warm up! Have thought about boots but think they'd just get lost in the snow. (Has anyone had success with any particular brand of boot and basenjis?) Needless to say they would be in agreement if I were to suggest moving somewhere warmer - although Australia is a tad far!!

well this morning it was about -12 out with the wind :eek:…Sonny & I went out for a quick trip so he could do his business before I went to work- he only "go" while we walk not just standing in the yard...So quick walk to the corner and back I hoped would be enough for him to get it done...well once he did what he had to do he sat down and refused to move! :rolleyes: not with a little tug or offer of a treat. In his mind he did what he had to and now this was my problem....anyone looking out their window at 6:30AM saw me carrying Sonny home!

I think it's very likely that way. Shaye begins to shiver and needs her coat when the temperature is in the mid-50's - I can't imagine what she would do in the northern climates - probably roll in a ball and refuse to ever go out the door!:p
Wow,I can't imagine… Here it's really cold when it gets down to 15 or 16 Celsius and thats maybe at night in the winter... Oth than that it's mostly 25 26 or really hot 32 33
In the city, on the coast. We have some land up in the mountains, 1000 meters above sea level, and it's a whole different story there. Can go down to 9 or 8 at night!! I can't wait till we have a cabin up the so we can go!!!!
Mine don't mind the cold outside at all (even the older ones) as long as it's a dry cold - unfortunately we get a lot of damp cold. I should add as long as there's a hot fire indoors for them to come in and warm up at intervals.
