    His story

This is Frodo. He is a male Basenji. He has been coming to our kennel for about a year now. This Christmas his owner dropped him off for the holiday. While visiting family in Nevada, regrettably, his owner passed away. Frodo is now left in the hands of us with assistance by relatives. However, the family is unable to keep him. They would like to find a new, loving partner for Frodo. There are no fees in adopting him. He is recently neutered. Frodo is an energetic boy and is only a year old. He is currently up to date on all his vaccines. This little guy is a silly character. Loves to play and never slows down. We take great care of him here at Creekside and would love to meet with anyone who is interested in adopting this adorable pup. If you are interested please contact us here at Creekside Pet Boarding; 805-481-7711

  • Have you contacted BRAT (Basenji Rescue and Transport)? They may be able to help out.

  • Most all the Basenjis in So. California (this is closer to So. Cal, then Northern Ca) would go to MedFly

  • Houston

Oh, what a sad story…i hope this little fella finds a forever home soon.

  • And yes, very sad… wonder who the breeder is?

  • @tanza:

And yes, very sad… wonder who the breeder is?

he's a cute little boy and I wondered the same thing. i'd guess the kennel facility does not know who the breeder is. it's nice for them to care for him until a home is found.

  • Since the ad said that the family was working with the shelter, wonder if they could find his papers and find the breeder?

  • Has anyone emailed Karen yet???

  • BRAT was notified at least. Yeah wish someone could get the breeder name. :(

  • I talked to the kennel just now, and they have decided to place the dog with someone who owns Basenjis. I dont know if it's a BRAT foster or an individual ? But the guy said it wasn't a organization… I mentioned the forums in case the new owners wanted some backup.. anyone else get more info ?

  • It sounds like a very conscientious kennel, wanting to see the dog get a really good home, not just 'any home'.

When I click on the link for the craigslist ad it says the ad has been removed so maybe they found a home.

@Patty: Hi everyone, just to close this mystery- the ladies involved disappeared, so to speak- they don't answer phone calls or emails, and while we were supposed to meet on Saturday, neither one answered their phones to coordinate anything. I found the exact picture that they used on Craig's list on puppyfinder.com. Some things that seem too good to be true are. Creepy! Good thing you had your wits about you and that you're safe.

We shall see just how much hekp this little guy really gets from this forum. I called and found out that he was a puppy back 04 when he was adopted from Wayside Waifs and now family has a baby why no longer want him. She said the boy sometimes gets like to be a little stronger over other dogs. I do not care what people think of me or were Jaycee came from it's not me needing help its the the little guy. Actions have always been stronger than words. Gald to see Otis is well and happy. Rita Jean

@hdolbow: yeah definately. mia's a handful and rockys got a serious attitude sometimes, but i could NEVER even THINK of getting rid of them. I think some people just want companionship and because B's are tiny and quieter than normal dogs.. they think PERFECT for apartments and cities! but they dont know anything about them. unless you have the time to take them places, you cant keep them cooped up in a house all day with no outside exercise and expect them to be happy/cooperate with you. they dont have anything better to do than chew stuff up. at least thats how i feel Yes and these people lived in an apartment in the city… so my first question to them was "are you ready make the time to walk a dog?"...
