Gunnar is a 1 year old, full blood Basenji. His previous owners were too busy to care for him so he came into our rescue. He has been neutered and fully vaccinated. He is a wonderful dog, but needs to have an owner who fully understands the breed. They are different and need the right kind of home. He gets along great with dogs after a proper introduction. He's just a fun, unique dog capable of making you laugh everyday. Gunnar has been housed in a private rescue and requires a $100 adoption fee. This fee will go to the other dogs and cats that enter our rescue. Don't pass up a chance to take Gunnar home! He deserves to have a family of his own.

  • Hopefully a forever home comes soon.

Is there a Yukon in Oklahoma? We have a province called Yukon Territories north of British Columbia. I always think "COLD" when I hear Yukon. But it must not be that bad if in Oklahoma.

  • There is a rescue in Yukon, OK that has some B Mixes for adoption but I did not see Gunnar on Petfinder.

Getting the gov. involved won't do anything but hurt the legal folks. Just look at byb who go over the "legal" limit for ownership of animals in their care, or horders, who don't do even legal mandated care… Its going to take education and spay/neuter of any animal who leaves a shelter. It's going to take years...I only hope I see it in my lifetime.

Cale and I are currently in the process of adopting a senior dachshund through Almost Home Dachshund Rescue. Oscar is 11 years old and has a heart murmur. He has a little white "frosting" around his mouth, and he is lumpy. We meet the foster mom to pick him up this Saturday. This will be my first senior rescue, although it will be our fourth (and last for now) dog. This will also be our second dachshund named Oscar, but we think it is too late in life to change his name. Now we will have the Oscars. I am actually really inspired by this little old man. Think about it - he doesn't know he is old, doesn't know he has a heart condition, and doesn't know that he might not last much longer. He lives every day to the fullest, which I wish I did more often. I am really happy that Cale and I can give a loving, safe home to a little old man who deserves it. I think he can teach us all a little something.
