Slipping the collar and now harness… help?

Here is a picture of Bella's harness…
We got it in the local pet shop down here so should be avaiable up there.
Never had an issue other then the other dog bitting one of the clips,still works:)"D" ring for lead ect. and the seat belt goes through the flap(not using it).

Now you understand why many of us can't use harnesses. They simply back out of them. The martingale type should work. Just remember it's a restriction type collar and should never be used without supervision IMO. I either use flat buckle collars or regular collars for the house. Other than that, they get the martingale type.

Chico also found out he can wriggle out of his collar. For a while I used a gentle leader with a halti link to a collar. I found that with continuous use he rubbed the coat on his nose. I now use a martingale collar which has been very successful.

Martingale collars work great for our escape artists ;) There are also harnesses from Ruff wear that are pretty hard to wiggle out of..

my dog can slip out of the easy walk harness if he tries hard enough, but martingales work well for slipping collars.

Most Basenjis can work out a way to slip their restraints (collar or harness) if they've a mind and are left with time enough - I would think the martingale type is the safest.

it looks similar to the harness i was using. i will have a look around for it though and see what its like :) thanks

Oh the martingale would only be for when we are out walking or at training. She has a nice flat leather collar with all her tags and my phone number etc that she will also wear incase she did manage to get away from me :rolleyes:
and yeah she just backed right out of it lol she thought she was pretty clever :cool: - that wasnt quiet my reaction though LOL
i was thinking of trying an easy walk harness but Starrlamia mentioned her B getting out of it. Hm.
Hopefully the martingale turns up soon so we can see how we go. We've tried a halti and im not really that keen on them

For curiosity I goggled for a "martingale" and I can see why given time they escape:(
Both our dogs will pull backwards when on colars only and "wosho", not even a good bye:eek:

I make sure the padding is over the steel adjusting buckles.
Just gives a better veiw of it with out 1 fat dog in the way;) -
All our four have martingales and this type of collar is the best for us. We have had a lot of types of collar over time and they always escape from them….Martingale type is such a perfect and they have never escaped from it.

Haven't used a martingale on Hope yet. She slipped her collar so we went to using a harness and now she knows how to slip that too. The martingale wouldn't be used unless supervised :)
Once I get it I'll see how she goes with it

I've used the Easy Walk harness for both my girls for over a year - Gemma can slip any other kind, and so can Shay. Gemma can even slip her collar. The Easy Walk gives me good control when they are suddenly off chasing a squirrel to the end of the lead, and since they are not tight in the front, where the ring is, they are not overly restricted when they walk well. Which they do seldom.:rolleyes:
