    We have had two seasons in the pack, very often. This has given us more than a fair share of summer litters. Basically, when one girl comes in, they all do. Sometimes its only a token dribble in sympathy from a bitch whose 'normal' ovulation is counter to that of the other ladies. One bitch, born in September, only ever actually ovulated and could be bred in the Spring although she apparently had a sympathy season with the others in Autumn. They kept her company in Spring but matings were not successful for them at 'her' time. I wouldn't worry but it never hurts to call on the vet if you are ever worried about anything.

    Exactly, it depends on the dog. Though, as I said, Sayblee got her major and championship at a svelt (for her) 22 pounds.     super they are better now. Sorry, I just have read it now. In case of any stings you can use raw onion. Cut it in half and put it on the sting for a while. It pulls the poison out of the wound. We here in our area have lots of adders around http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vipera_berus for this reason I bought a "snake-bite-kit" which is always in the car, just in case. If you think of any allergic reaction maybe to plants, check if you have any of the Ambrosia artemisiifolia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambrosia_artemisiifolia in your direct area. They can cause massive allergic reactions and the seeds are used in bird food blends. Washing with Vinegar (preferably made out of apples) can help to stop the itching. Regards, Esther

    It is hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like the type of discoloring that is common when they are licking themselves repeatedly in the same area. The umbilical hernia doesn't look like it is affected or has anything going on. I would think more along skin irritation, contact allergy, or something along those lines. Probably worth making an appointment and having it checked out so it doesn't turn into something like a skin infection and to rule out anything more serious. Have you gently cleaned the area?

    @TuckerVA: The wings are cooked in "Wingaling". I think they are pressure cooked, or something, to the point of being completely soft, yes? Those would probably be okay…... the problem occurs with baking and grilling, etc because it makes the bones brittle and more likely to splinter than raw, or cooked to mush.
