I am looking for the Basenjis I used to have!

Basenji Rescue
  • This is a long shot….but here goes:

A long time ago, we bred my female Basenji (i think i was like 8) to a stud we found in our home town. I was really young and we never had paperwork or anything. Sadly but true. Anyways I am wondering about the little dogs that were in our litter! Id like to know if they are ok!

The Mother is APRI Missy Kalahari Shinga and
The Father is APRI Spencer Congo.

They had 6 puppies. There were 2 males and 4 females.

Previously named for sure: Petunia, Kobe, Kodiak. Previously named guesses: Sassy? and i cant remember at all, it was quite a while ago.

Their birthday was November 3rd 2002.They were ALL RED AND WHITE PUPPIES. They would have been sold out of Mitchell, South Dakota or possibly surrounding areas.

I am REALLY interested in seeing pictures or even taking them back if they are in rescue or cant be kept. I will find them homes myself if needed. But I just want to know that my babies are safe! IF ANYONE has any information about one of our puppies, PLEASE contact me. Even if to tell me they are ok.

Benji Boy J, APRI, is infact one of her puppies. Thanks so much, and i hope someone with the puppies comes forward so i can know they are ok.

Please dont bash on me for breeding her and her not being AKC and anything else. I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF THE PUPPIES ARE SAFE. if you cannot be kind or help me find the where abouts of the puppies, PLEASE dont reply to this thread. It is my only interest to hear about the puppies. I hope everyone understands. Please and thank you!

  • Sorry I can not help you but I do have one question.

You were 8 when you bred her which was 2004-2005? Making you 13 to 14 years of age? Or did I read this wrong?

I do have to laugh that you would think 5-6 years was a really long time ago. :O)

Did you happen to know of anything that might come in handy to me in my "Search for the Missing Bs" hehe

haha you guys are funny. :P

  • You could check out Sally Wallis site..see if they are there…

I looked on there. The only one on there is Benji Boy J, which we already figured out was Missys puppy. We cant find any of the other Bs tho. :( or their owners. And i cant get ahold of BBJ's owner. Jennifer, she doesnt respond to my messages :( maybe she is just offline and has not been online in a while :)

  • OK I HAVE THE INFORMATION. Found some old papers!

The litter was born 11-3-02. There were 2 males and 4 females. The parents are the same.

So the dogs should be officially around 7yrs, 10mos. 8 years old

  • Unless you have some information on the people you sold the pups to, I'm not sure how you would find them. Even if they are on Sally's database, she doesn't keep track of the owners, just breeders (and that isn't given publicly on the site). You'd be pretty lucky if they were on a forum like this. Maybe post on some of the basenji-related FB groups or pages too?

  • You could also try Dogster.com.

Laura, You have posted under someone's thread looking to adopt. Hopefully people will still see it but you might get more attention on a new thread. I am starting one for you and will add the link. http://www.basenjiforums.com/showthread.php?16376-For-Laura-(-yodels2u)-seeing-breeder-wants-2-puppies&p=173379#post173379 That should take you to the thread. Good luck in your search. I know members here will have some breeders for you. Also, you might consider BRAT or rescues. While puppies not that common, they do come along. Also considering older pups (6 to 10 mos) from breeders that didn't work out for show but would be great as pets will broaden your options.

Figula as you live in Peterborough just to let you know that it is our club show on 28th March (Sunday) We are the Basenji Owners and Breeders Association and you are very welcome to come along. If you come at about midday, you could have lunch with some Basenji people and say hallo to us and our dogs. The venue is Alconbury Village Hall. If you're interested I can send you details.

Thank you for opinions! I don't think she is in any danger in the sanctuary but probably it would be nice to let them know that she might be a basenji - more chances to get adopted. And there's absolutely nothing from a shar pei in her!
