I hope your pup is better soon. I do know that it can take a long time to treat pneumonia, and a 'tracheal wash' with cultures can point you to the correct antibiotic if puppy doesn't improve. Years ago our young dog had pneumonia and we went through 3 antibiotics with poor success, the cultures showed an unusual organism and we switched antibiotics and he was on them for another 3 months but recovered and lived to be 15. If you are not comfortable with your vet, go to a specialty group for a second opinion. We often go straight to our local specialists, saves time and money in the long run.
Got a shot today and she keeps crying…
-
i took my baby in to a new vet today to get a lymes booster and a dhhp (i think) and he put the shots in both side of her hips (like a little fatty part of her upper back? usually they vet puts a shot in the top of her neck….
its gotten swollen and she YELPS and cries if i try to pick her up.... the vet said wait until tomorrow and she if shes still crying....
has anyone had this before? is this normal? should i give her Tylenol or something?
-
This is not normal and if your vet won't see her then call another vet. It sounds like she is having a reaction to one of the vaccines.
Do NOT give Tylenol, it is not safe for pets.
-
I guess, I should have said, some tenderness and swelling is normal but she shouldn't be crying in pain and if the swelling is really noticeable that is not normal either.
-
ill call them
-
And also, that is a large amount of shots at one time?…. always better to have them spaced out instead of giving them all at one time.... (regardless what your Vet might tell you)

I'm always suspicious about strange reactions to vaccines. As Ivoss says swelling etc could be just normal but pain is not. I hope that she is back to normal by now. I not and your vet is not cooperative - get another professional opinion.

Yup. Never hurts to get a 2nd opinion.
