JAjajaja …..thanks everyone.... no I was just joking... no offense whatsoever, quite the contrary , I have great admiration for women in general, and i understood what you meant. I feel very flattered by all your comments.. thank you. Yes the show was lots of fun....and Valentina was incredible. Really it was like one of those movie moments where everyone starts cheering! It was really cool, because she really did amazing. She is a natural. so calm, she made Ayo pose still, which non of us had been able to do!!

Another thing you need to consider, is this just going to be a show dog or are you thinking that you may some day breed her? The puppy that may be the best starter show dog may not be the best choice if you are thinking this may also become your foundation bitch.

The whole time, she was handling the puppy gently, speaking kind words, telling them "good boy" etc the whole time. (see Andrew's letter in thread) In all fairness, I agree and I will put out an apology to Wanda, I retract any negative comments about her, her status in the community of showing and handling of dogs, or in any way harm her reputation. But to everything and everyone there exists a personal and subjective viewpoint. I know that handling dogs 'unnaturally' but in a positive manner only helps with their adaptation of our lives that we subject them to….I agree with Basenjimanna, Sharon about Andrew's comment. I do not have much experience in show life. Yes, I have witnessed some dogs that thrive on it, and I have watched dogs that the owner is only in it for themselves, pride, and prestige and have little concern for the dog as an entity. (Show Dog-ing can open up a whole new forum), so I may not agree with EVERY aspect of showing dogs, but it does not make it immoral or unnatural or wrong for the dogs, just not for me, but on the other hand, I do enjoy watching the televised version of an AKC show.... Refer again to personal preferences and discussion forums, I am grateful to accept your perspectives as it has enhanced my understanding of how I can misjudge an intent (the video.) Thank you for the well written response. (yeah for forums and open minds....)

@Sharla: Odin! He was a perfect match to our girl. We got 2 reds & 4 b/w. Therese has Halo and helped place the r/b with friends of theirs. I kept 2. r/w girl, Dolce' and Maximus. The other 2 boys are in local (san diego) pet/show homes. I loved meeting Therese & Kevin. I have learned lot from them and enjoy talking to them. When are you expecting??? Odin is a sweetie!!! Totally!!! and yes the Leimbacks are a credit to the breed and always ready to help people…. We are waiting for Kylie to come in season now... (it is like watching water boil....gggg) so we will most likely be expecting January 2009 babies....

Congrats on the win Beck! It is always cool for a puppy to win big their first time out.. but Peeps shoulda kicked her butt! I think that Becky is well aware of testing and what is involved. Her Jolly was a performance star and his life was cut short to Fanconi Syndrome. She knows all too well how Fanconi can suck the life out of a basenji. The test was a godsend, and those of us that have lived it, will use the test in and out, backwards and forwards… as it is too serious of an issue to breed against it with wishful or unrealistic thinking. But, there is always a good side to things.... as we type, Benny, Jolly, Data, and Nate.... some true great ones... are all running free, stalking bunnies... and having their girls....
