• I was thinking of Ray Bradbury's Green Town loosely based on his home town of Waukegan. He used it in Dandelion Wine and Something Wicked This Way Comes.

  • I'm thinking Steven King and Norway, Maine …. That's my guess 🙂

  • I'll go with Stephen King too. His hometown is Durham Maine, but everyone usually says it is Bangor, so I'll go with Bangor Maine - can't think of any industry in Durham. ;).

I just read the part about extra credit about the creepy town - I'll guess Durham. 🙂

  • I should have said "Where he currently makes his home." But I think everyone basically got it….except the fictional town he has destroyed over the years. Keep going....:D

  • Castle Rock

  • Yes, ma'am. You get the extra credit for naming the town.

Agile gets it for naming the creepy guy.

We stayed the night in Bangor.

    Cheers!

    Did you stay at Dysart's?

  • Yes, and I'm here again. Went up north to drop and picked up at the same place. No big hurry to get to next location, but probably pull out tomorrow morning. I went through Monticello and Mars Hill. Love that area. I actually started looking at real estate up there.

Every time I go through Mars Hill, I wonder if it was the idea town for Derry….the name of the town SK used in the book IT.

  • Talking of Steven King, my favourite book/film is the shining. I have watched it loads of times and find it realy scary and atmospheric 😮

Ha, ha…there are a lot of towns in Maine like that! I love Stephen King - his writing has improved so much over the years. BTW, did you know that his house now has wrought iron fencing around it that has bats, cobwebs, etc. :D:D

I usually love Maine, but I'm so over power outages - we had another one yesterday, 5 hrs because of the high wind! Should be our last though at my house as we're putting in a propane generator that automatically goes on the minute the power goes out. YAY!

  • Houston

…Oh, I want one of those generators too..they are just so darn expensive..We need them down here too, if we have a storm, our neighborhood of 25 or so homes are one of the last on the list to get our power back..it sucks..
We do have a generator that is large enough to either run the fridge and a few lamps, OR our waterpump..so you have to pick your battles when the electricity goes..

Yeah, see my problem is I want the whole house automatically on when the power goes out - gone are the days when I find it an adventure! As it is, I've compromised and were only doing the first floor (including all kitchen, laundry, office, bedrooms, bath, basement - furnace, well/water) and the only thing on the 2nd floor will be the bathroom.

During the ice storm last winter we lost power for 4 days. During the ice storm of 98 (?) we lost power for 17days - CNN was filming right in front of our house.
