Updates please?!?!!

Apparently work didn't enjoy the puzzle as much as I did because now they have blocked the B forums!! I can't access the site from work anymore!!

I thought he is probably PB but with different tri markings. I posted him in the Rescue section. Do you know if he was a stray or an owner surrender? Would the rescue group ship him? I think it is too hot now to ship though. My Bowie will bark from time to time, more like a woof though and he especially does it when he sees a squirrel up a tree. I think he is telling them to come down! He will only bark/woof a few times in a row. I will usually tell him "no bark". This is why I hate posting. I wasn't mad at you either, just didn't think you understood the process. We've all had bad experiences which is why we need to learn from others. There are quicker methods (think wringing their neck-literally) but that's not something I could do. Chopping off the head I have no problem with when the bird is older, but little chicks and ducklings get to me. I know better when going to the vet now, but, at that time, I thought the vet knew what she was doing-obviously not.(with the dog that she blew four veins) This dog was 17 1/2 years old and didn't deserve that at the end of life. He may have been struggling, but you would think after she blew the first vein she would have sedated him then rather that keep trying. Yes, I was with the dog and was not happy with her explanation. There was no reason for it. There are still a lot of people (they just don't admit to it, because they don't know a better method? or just couldn't be bothered? Who knows?) who still use the freezer method. Am I cruel, I can be when I have to be, but I just prefer a simpler method. And I am well aware of the rocks in the sack method. My father was from the old country (hungary) and could be quite cruel. They were never pets or living things-simply livestock-but he wasn't a nice person anyway. As for the vet not putting an animal to sleep? Lived it. I had one dog who was off the wall. Something was simply crossed upstairs neurologically. He started having seizures at about 18 months, but came out of them viciously and could never settle down. The vet insisted I sign him over to him and if he deemed it necessary, he would put him to sleep since he was so young. Yes, there was a euthanasia contract to that effect. The vet kept him for a few days, phoned me up and asked me how I lived with him so long. He could not believe how bad he was. He did put him to sleep after that. But these are a couple of reasons why I am so leary of vets. I've had a few bad experiences with them.

Chelsie-the B's don't get a chance to see them. The B's are in the front in a pen and the ducklings and chickens are in the back. After Shadow decided to help me butcher a chicken when we first moved in, I thought it prudent to keep them separated. They would definitely terrorize them. Yes, Robyn, I made the duck tractor. It has wheels on the one end so I can move it around. I do have a duck pen, and they will go in it when I fix the duck house. It seems rats, or something decided to make a meal of the one end and floor of the house. So, I have to fix that. I do really like it, but it won't be big enough in a couple of weeks for them. I will try to get more pics of the little monsters today. (And, the pen will work very well for one of the dogs if I ever need it!!) Yes, they grow very, very fast. If I can get a pic of them up and about, you will see how it's very hard to tell which one had the spraddle legs. The rouens are bigger than the muscoveys. There are three rouens and they have an eye stripe. Thanks for the link. The information is a real eye opener. Its very surprising how many states do not require reporting. Maybe if they did more back yard breeders and puppy mills might get shut down.

Regardless of how you feel about the African puppy adoption, I do not believe you've paid enough attention to the available details of the project if you are trying to call this a scam. They are legitimate researchers. They have been working on this for years. I have read their publications before in peer-reviewed research journals, and their latest findings are regularly cited, discussed, and debated by scientists (note that they are far out of my own field, but I do try to pay attention to peer-reviewed research that I find accessible to my own level of understanding – which they do aim to provide). Here's the latest lab page for Adam Boyko: http://www.k9dna.org/people/arboyko You can check out his CV on that page, which includes live links to various published research going all the way back to 2004 (though not necessarily all on dogs). At this point, it doesn't look like they're going to raise the $8K through this Petridish site, but you'll see from the list of awards and grants that their projects have already received that this is a drop in the bucket. Anyway, point taken that one should do their own research on any organization, group, or individual before deciding to contribute.

Podengo temperament - first as I said before they have a softer temperament than basenjis - harsh corrections result in a dog that will melt into the ground. The Medio size (keeping in mind I do not live with this size) needs to be kept busy - they are active and appear to do well when there is some pretty physical exercise and brain activity for them. Lure coursing, agility, even rally can keep them happy and focused. A couple of foks are going to try them at fly ball. All sizes like to hunt and must always be behind a fence or on a leash. I find that the Grande (BIGS) are a bit more laid back. They love to run, they will catch bunnies and birds on the fly and in Portugal they run down boar and stag. Their preference appears to be investigating their enviroment for any changes and sleeping on the couch. If you think of primitive hounds of the Mediteranian Basin - you get what a Podengo looks like and how they are. Similar to Ibizan, Pharoh Hound, Cirneci, basenjis etc. The little size - pequeno is a breed apart - it is smaller 8-12 inches and is not a bred down big it is longer than tall and is a rabbit hunter in thick brush.
