@lvoss: Here is Bella's win picture from Pomona. I don't think my dad noticed her accidently cropped out part of her rear. She looks nice - even with part of her missing :D:D! Congrats again!

@Quercus: That's okay :) Different judge, different day! I think Mirtillo could beat him if a judge liked a lighter boned dog. Yes, a couple of weeks ago when Tillo became BOB he did beat him.. so anything is possible ;)

LOL my bad, I never looked at when it was originally posted. I just clicked on "new posts" and assumed they would be active threads - now that I look at it, I realize that the SPAM message was what made it current! I"ll have to pay more attention! glad to hear he's coming along well.

And if you ever get a second place in your class hang around. You may have to go back in to compete for reserve Winners. It took me a while to remember that one when I first started showing.

She is beautiful, congratulations. I love her name, very appropriate for a basenji that screams!

Those pictures of the B in the air were really nice. Not knowing the show terms, most people who've watched my dog's gait call it prancing - she sure looks elegant doing it, and some have compared it to a horse's trot….one woman who has a bichon and an airdale said some dogs are born for the ring because of their beautiful gait, and that Basenjis definitely belong to that group - I agree.

Dear All - the umbilical hernia as you say is very common in the Basenji and quite a number of the original imports into the UK from Congo had them. In many years involved with Basenjis I can recall only a handful where it was essential to have the hernia 'fixed'. Sometimes the wall closes or gets closer trapping the intestine and then an op is definitely necessary. You can spot this is happening when the hernia gets hard so its really only a matter of keeping a watch. Quite frankly it is my belief that many judges don't even notice them! (I'm speaking of the UK as I have no experience anywhere else!) Incidentally I always leave the dew claws on my dogs and in many years of showing I have had only one judge actually mentioning this!! I can only assume that they jsut haven't noticed.

I will definately try to get some of Rufus… And hope they are not blurry!! lol Fingers crossed! I guess we will be in the same class as Trish and Dee's Coco, im assuming they will be putting her in the puppy class as well. I think they just want to see them all out there in the ring, they're not overly fussed about littermates clashing :) It must be so odd to have all the pups out at the same time, in my other breeds you get pups coming out all through the year!

Ok - sure. I know she's in the middle of moving right now - not certain where to, but the last I knew, has only until the end of the month & still has to fence the new yard & all. Maybe she had her link removed for that reason?

My father said to me, our first dog Spranky, had a liver problem and also the same itch everywere… Maybe the vet can look if his liver is okay.. pff it's very scary a thing like this, maybe he has an allergie? Give him a hug!
