Dear UK & Scots members, a plea

  • Hello All!

Well, it's all official and pending my visa (which should be sorted out in the next 2 weeks) I will be moving to Edinburgh in September!! Should be a good long stretch of 3 to 4 years and I'm flying blind, I could count on one hand the number of people I know in the entire U.K. Soo… Could I come and meet you all, plllllllease?? I'll be doing some traveling about, and I would love to visit some shows or perhaps some Basenji play dates as I will be Basenjiless :(:(:( for a good while waiting on my Lycia to be cleared for UK entry.

I'm willing to do labor for Basenji face time, that's all I'm saying. 😃

  • Absolutely! I take it you managed to get a foster home sorted?

I am sure we can arrange a meet - we live only 30 miles from Edinburgh, we can maybe see about getting a few others along to meet up. There are a few basenji club shows still to come - perhaps you could come along to the Northern Basenji open show - i will look out a list of shows still to come and see if we can get a good few basenjis along for you.

  • I will be moving back to Scotland soon and won't be too far from Edinburgh:D Would definatly like to meet up with you and also Belle's half sister Lycia:D when she arrives.

  • We are miles away from Scotland, but if you do go to shows you may see us there, although probably next year now.

The Basenji Club of Great Britain are holding a memorial show 19th September 2009, this is to mark 20 years since Veronica Tudor Williams passed over. I would think that many of us will be there. There is a parade of champions past and present, and many of us are placing adverts in the catalogue of dogs past and present to make it a very special edition.

I hope you are not too long without Lycia.

  • Hi Lauren,

We stay in Edinburgh, so you are welcome to meet up with us. As the others say, it would be great if you could come to some of the shows to see as many Basenjis as possible.

    Theresa

  • You guys are awesome!!!

I will absolutely try and make some shows happen, that would be such a pleasure. I have your names now, so I will be haunting you guys in a few weeks 😉 Where is the Northern Basenji open show exactly? Is there a mailing list or something for The Basenji Club of Great Britain?

Looking forward to meeting everyone, including the lovely half sister Belle. Theresa I will be taking you up on that soon 🙂

and yes, we did get a foster home worked out. The wonderful and gracious Janneke has agreed to keep my beastie. I feel quite lucky.

The Hound Association of Scotland is on 11th October in Lanark - 2 miles from my house. Its the only open show in Scotland (until next year ) with a basenji class - am sure we could all make an effort to enter it, and maybe have a get together afterwards? - there is a nice loch across the road from the venue for a walk, and a good restaurant as well for a bite to eat.

the Northern Basenji Society show is on 18th October in Cheshire - so its a good 4 hours from Edinburgh - but maybe you could get a lift to the show with one of us Scottish basenji folk?

And how lucky to get a foster home with Janneke - you know she will be well looked after!

  • Hi Lauren

Like Moetmum I am a long way south, and no more shows for me north of Birmingham until next year. But it'd be great to meet you at one of the shows if you can get a lift down!

  • We live in the Lake District (Cumbria) just south of the Scottish border. So, I'm sure we'll bump into each other sometime.
    Look forward to meeting you.

    Victoria. x

  • Yes, yes, The Hound Association of Scotland sounds perfect! I would totally be down for that.

Well, I'm positive I will go down South a bit now that I'm in period of "single" life. It's gonna be very peculiar being able to go where I want without considering the dog.

It will be so great to have so many of you around, I'm looking forward to meeting you all very very much.

P.S. I'm also very excited about being fully baptized in Basenji-Scot culture, Scottish history is so interesting (with a nice B twist, hheeh)

  • I also live in Scotland, although on the West Coast. It's only 2 hours from Edinburgh. We have 4 Bs here with us and you are more than welcome to come and visit. You can access all the Scottish Islands from here and do some great sight seeing (and B walking if you fancy it!)
I will also be at the Hound Assoc Open Show. Was only going to enter 1 dog but if you fancy handling for me I could take 2 ?? 🙂

  • Coming to Edinburgh tomorrrrrrow!!

I'm terribly excited … ok almost "terribly" since I dont have a flat yet, hehe, but still quite thrilled to be finally coming ! Can't wait to meet you all.

Best Wishes and see you guys soon !

  • I hope you have a good trip, its a shame us Southerners are so far away, don't forget to pack your thermals its cold up north! 🙂

  • Hope you have a good journey and I look forward to seeing you when I get over there:D

  • looking forward to meeting you Lauren. You have my details and the weather has been quite nice this weekend, i hope it stays nice for your first few days at least.

    Theresa

  • Hi lauren,
i live in Lancashire, a long way from Scotland but hopefuly we can meet at one of the shows. We are hoping to get to the Northern Basenji show. At present we dont have a Basenji but are hoping to get another one soon.
I have enjoyed the threads about Lycia and Tillo, its amazing what people will do to help each other.

  • Houston

Lauren, needless to say I am far from Scotland ( in Houston, TX) but wanted to wish you a safe trip and good, swift time finding the perfect flat and all.

  • Oh, Edinburgh, I am soo jealous.
