Does anyone know if this dog has been re-homed? Also, the one in Vegas is still listed on petfinder… I hope someone can help that girl out, too.
Thanks to all the Basenji Lovers out there. It is so heartwarming to hear happy endings... 🙂
Would like everyone to know that Quinn is already settled here and making himself at home.He loves to eat the raw diet that I feed here and I'm sure that he will put on some much needed weight. He seems to be a sweet little soul and sits and looks lovingly too me for a cookie.
My other B's seem to except him especially Classy who has found a quick friend.
He is no trouble at all and the little bit of meds he takes is no problem and at night he wears a male wrap for leaks. All in all,I will give him the much needed TLC that he deserves.Kathryn and all the

Happy to include Quinn
That is great, glad to hear that he is fitting in so well….. curious about his "leaking" problem.... is it just when sleeping?... do you think he might have an UTI?... since he is only 13, bit early to be having problems holding his urine.... or is that the reason that the previous owners decided to place him?
Happy for all of you we are having Christmas in Aug.

Kathryn, this makes me so happy :)I hope he has many long years with you and your family. Glad he's found a friend in Classy. What is a male wrap please? In the past we had a problem with a Leaky Basenji boy.
Pat,
Yes,I think that his leaking might have been a reason that his owner didn't want him anymore. That and he is on meds for seizures.I haven't test stripped him yet but his father is affected, don't know about mom.He doesn't drink to much and he only leaks at night.
A male wrap is like a diaper for a male dog,it just goes around there waist with a pad inside. They're great for keeping males dry.
Kathryn
Thanks Kathryn, i wish we'd known about the wraps when we had Benji, he used to leak when he slept. Coincidently he has seizures as well.
I am so pleased that Quinn has found a lovely home, you are a special person to take him on.
Kathryn - I adopted a senior basenji girl once. She was hiding in a schoolyard near here, bit the dog catcher, then was put on death row. BRAT called me and I adopted her. She was so distraught, but I nursed and loved her back to health, and she gave me 3 great years of joy to my life. No one had ever loved me that much before. You have done a wonderful thing.
Just found this thread. First page made me cry, subsequent pages also made me cry, for a completely different reason.
Gotta love the happy ending!! Way to go Kathryn!!
Update on Quinn
Please pray for Quinn as I now find out that he has a very serious case of Lymes disease. He is not a happy camper and I'm trying really hard to make him comfortable. He has trouble walking as his wrist joints are so swollen.Have him on high dose antibiotics and arnica for pain.
I fear that his time with me is short, but I can only hope that the time he has had with me was more then he got from his last owner.
I now know why he was discarded.

Dearest Kathryn,
I am sad to hear the news. That is so heartbreaking. I will pray for you both. When and how do you think he got Lymes disease. I'm so sad for you both. Maxie

Geez, poor Quinn. It's been one thing after another for the poor guy. Kathyrn, you're doing all you can. Thank you for that. As you stated, he may not have much longer, but in the short time you've had him back, I'm sure he has had a lifetime of love. Prayers to you and Quinn.
I think he has had it for a really long time and never was treated .
Kathryn
how awful for poor Quin. To be discarded when he needs his family the most. Jaroufa - you're a good and dedicated to find the source of his problem. What's his prognosis?
Hugs to you for helping this old dear b boy…a special place in hell for the folks who dumped a senior dog... I just don't understand that type of thinking...but they are teaching their children to do the same to them, when they get old and have issues.
Keep us posted on him.
Hugs my unmet friend.
Oh no! Poor Quinn. The past few months have been rocky for him. You really are an amazing person for all you have done and continue to do for him. I'm sure he knows that he is loved now. Sending happy thoughts and hugs to both of you!
