    I have a 3 month old red/white female puppy that I need to name. The prefix will be Sherwood's and the theme of the litter is "Secret". (Mama dog kept her condition a secret until she was about to pop.) The puppy is a feminine dead ringer, conformation-wise and partially markings-wise, for her sire Baron.

    Second choice would be Sherwood's Secret Reflection.

    I like Secret Endeavor, but that sounds more like a boy to me.

    Have you ever gone with a Robin Hood, ie Sherwood Forest theme? {Or is that just to corny for words?}

    Funny you should say that…...

    When I was selecting a kennel name to use, I wanted something reasonably short, easy to spell and pronounce, and easy to remember. My name is Robyn and the Basenjis are true hoodlums so Sherwood it was! :p

    How about this: Sherwood's Mystery Reflection and call her "Mystery" or "Misty" for short. This one covers both the fact that Mom kept her a "secret" and the fact that she looks like Dad (reflection)!;) :cool:

    Ha Ha Ha I can see Robyn in the bathrobe trying to get the dogs in the door-Ha Ha Ha. If I didn't have so many already I'd take one. But I don't think Shadow would appreciate it. And I am partial to blacks as well!

    The perfect name popped in my head as I was driving home today. Something I had not even thought of until then.

    legacy - something that is handed down or remains from a previous generation or time

    This little girl will be formally registered as Sherwood's Secret Legacy!

    You guys came up with some GREAT suggestions! Thanks to everyone for joining in the fun. Now….to decide what I'm going to call her. :p

    Not to mention what you will call them when you're angry! :) I also like two syllable names, but often end up using one syllable, e.g. "Perry" sometimes gets "Pay", and my horse, "Hero" often just gets "Roe".

    With the way Kipawa runs, when he is fully grown we are going to take him lure coursing. I want all of his bones to develop fully before putting too much stress on them.

    Although "NO" became what Shaye most heard, along with " drop it" (she's too quick for "leave it," so "drop it" has replaced that) and "get off the table" and "stop digging the screens" (on the porch), lately we have been firmly saying her name, then squirting her in the face with a squirt bottle. Amazing how well that works - of course the entire house is getting wet but she's getting the picture that when we pick up the squirt bottle and show it to her, she'd best stop whatever it is she's doing. Gemma, of course, responds to "stop" and "leave it." Must be the "other" kind of dog in her….

    @sbaker: Is this something we have a chance of him over coming so he we be able to show in the breed ring Exactly like Nemo says.. you need to take your time and get him used to strangers without forcing him…. But it will take time .... and you can not force the situation Who is his breeder if you don't mind sharing?

    We once got a puppy with a 12 year old male (and an older female). For the first week the adults kept their distance from the girl pup, but within a couple of weeks my male and the pup were inseparable. She hung from his neck with those wicked teeth and he hardly ever growled at her, she was his little shadow and they adored each other. Adults will make terrible noise and flash fangs at the pups, especially at about 6 months when they are teenagers, but most pups ignore it all! Male dogs are usually very sweet and good with pups…females are, well, bitches.

If you are anything like me your dogs have lots of names anyway, Rufus answers to Bear at the moment which came about from the song Rupert the Bear which I used to sing to him! Fiji is sometimes called Flea or Felicity (Her show name is Zande Feleji), Kia answers to Kissy shortened from Kissy Keeks and so it goes on! I have to admit to giving mine a few names too… Gracie is grassy arse ( She got all excited when someone said gracias or however you spell it so she ends up being called grassy arse now :D ) or Gravy (again, got all excited when someone mentioned Gravy :o ). Delilah is Lilah, Lils, Lily. Riley is Crickey ( as in Crickey O'Riley :D ) or just Ry. And poor Maya gets called MyMy at home :o Chloe our old lab is Chlodagh or Da Pig :D Thanks to my brother for the second one lol! Beau is The Bobo! And Cassia gets called Cassandra when she has been bad! Its terribly confusing at times :rolleyes:
