@debradownsouth Hunting "Chaga Mushroom(s)", and humour is selective as I am sure you are aware. I think of Amy Beth Schumer when I say this.

Meet Chaga! -
Meet Darius@debradownsouth Hello Debra finding a "mentor", in China will be tough as Basenjis are incredibly rare here. Luckily for me 1. I am a mature competent adult and 2. There is plenty of breeding knowledge both online and books. Perhaps one day I can mentor someone else. Please remember that these dogs have been bred for thousands of years, and as long as the parents are pedigree and healthy I think nature kind of takes care of itself. Just like in the human world there are good parents and bad ones, and most do not have mentors. Finally I understand there is a certain amount of snobbishness in the West regarding breeding, which I will blissfully ignore.

Meet Chaga!@taylor-rene-g Yes you are correct and they just adore Basenjis and of course Mushroom soup. They use the Basenji to hunt the Chaga, kinda like Truffle dogs.

Winter Blues and Cold FeetSorry to hear you guys are in the cold. I do find it slightly ironic that as I write this my wife is up on our apartment roof catching some rays with Darius. This is why I would never go back to living in a cold climate. Wrap up warm all :)

Life with ArloNY must be cold...Brrrr. Glad to hear your dog is taking commands, my dog has learned the art of nanosecond sitting and lying down. Just long enough for a treat.
I recently watched a Youtube video where a lady that had taught her Basenji over 20 tricks....light at the end of the tunnel :)
